Psychological Interventions

Psychological Interventions

Psychological services are a core component of care at Poinciana Rehabilitation Centre. Delivered by licensed clinical and counselling professionals, these interventions are tailored to each resident’s clinical needs, personal goals, and stage of recovery.

Our therapeutic approach supports emotional regulation, behavioural change, improved coping skills, and strengthened interpersonal relationships.

Individual Therapy

One-on-one therapy provides residents with a confidential and supportive space to explore thoughts, emotions, and behaviours while working toward measurable treatment goals.

Therapeutic approaches may include:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT-informed approaches)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
  • Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)
  • Mindfulness-based strategies

Individual therapy focuses on symptom management, insight development, relapse prevention, and strengthening healthy coping mechanisms.

Family Therapy & Caregiver Engagement

Family involvement plays a vital role in sustained recovery. PRC works collaboratively with families and caregivers to improve communication, build understanding, and strengthen support systems.

Family-focused interventions may include:

  • Improving communication and conflict resolution
  • Psychoeducation about mental health conditions
  • Relapse prevention planning
  • Structured caregiver support sessions

These sessions help create a supportive environment beyond the facility.

Group Therapy

Group-based interventions provide opportunities for shared learning, peer support, and skill development within a structured therapeutic setting.

Group sessions may include:

  • Psychoeducational groups
  • Skills development groups
  • Process-oriented therapy groups
  • Cognitive-behavioural groups
  • Support groups

Group therapy encourages social interaction, mutual support, accountability, and the development of interpersonal skills.

Evidence-Based & Goal-Oriented Care

All psychological interventions at PRC are:

  • Evidence-based
  • Structured and measurable
  • Individualised to resident needs
  • Focused on empowerment and resilience
  • Aligned with long-term recovery goals

Psychological services work in close collaboration with psychiatric, nursing, and rehabilitation teams to ensure integrated and coordinated care.
